Terry Breverton’s book Welsh Sailors of the Second World War was published in 2007, One review on Amazon mentions: “Many people are familiar with the 'strategic' facts of the war at sea; the convoy battles, the merchant tonnage sunk and the U-boats lost. Phil Carradice and Terry Breverton have brought together a very diverse range of personal accounts and archive-based evidence to illustrate the human side of the story. For me, the most fascinating stories are those of the survivors of sinkings, adrift in open lifeboats, without food or drinkable water. One account, 'The Loss of the Anglo Saxon' tells the harrowing tale of the survivors of a sinking being adrift in the Atlantic for 70 days. Another part of this book details the contribution of the port of Barry to the war effort; 360 seamen from Barry were killed in the course of WW2. The age of some of the dead - 15 and 16 year olds”.
Amazon have one new and several used copies at the moment, I mention this for anyone that may have missed the book originally or could now possibly do with a copy. Terry also has a new book on WW1 out in June. I will add details as and when. K
