LOST AT SEA – NEVER FORGOTTEN: MEMORIAL BOOK APPEAL:
I hope you will agree that it is particularly appropriate to be launching this appeal during the 70th anniversary year of the Battle of Atlantic in which over 80,000 were lost at sea during the United Kingdom’s six year struggle for survival. But over the centuries, in both peace and war, many men, women and children have met a similar fate, perhaps from shipwreck or as yachtsmen or fishermen caught in a storm, or maybe when swept off a beach never to be seen again. Most such individuals have no known grave or permanent memorial.
