Plans for historic Barry pumphouse fail:The landmark Grade II listed hydraulic pumphouse is the 'perfect place' for a Heritage Museum: The latest attempt to breathe new life into a landmark building which played a central role in the development of Barry Docks has failed. The Grade II listed hydraulic pump house is one of the last reminders of Barry Docks’ hey day during the early 20th century. In 1913 it was the largest coal export ting port in the world. It now stands unused at the heart of what is now called the Innovation Quarter at Barry Waterfront, close to a Premier Inn and new pub. The pump house is one of a few of its kind left in Wales and was recently restored to its former glory thanks to a £800,000 Welsh Government grant.
